Provocative GB News interview ahead of Sir Keir’s ‘EU Reset Summit’, on today’s fishing sell-out
Live interview brings huge wave of support flooding into the UK Fisheries Campaign
Ahead of today’s all-important ‘EU Reset Summit’ – now known by many as his ‘Surrender Summit’ – the subject of fishing was on the agenda on Britain’s fastest-growing news channel, GB News. The Chairman of The UK Fisheries Campaign (UKFC) was interviewed live by popular presenter Nana Akua. Our Chairman was given time to explain to the national UK audience just what is likely to happen today.
On the other side was Peter Edwards, former Editor of Labour List – a left-wing online magazine – who essentially argued that fishing did not matter when put up against defence.
In a debate which extended into mention of the EU’s proposed ‘youth mobility scheme’, (now rebranded the ‘Youth Experience Scheme’), defence, and the importance of securing the UK’s food supply which includes fish, the UKFC’s Chairman was able to make several key points.
Below is the video. It starts with the Chairman of The UK Fisheries Campaign, then a discussion with the other panellist, Peter Edwards, who argued that fishing was virtually irrelevant compared to defence, before it returns to the UKFC Chairman at the end for some very important points.
We recommend watching to the end! Firstly, though, a summary.
A selection of some of the key points from the interview
- There are negotiations taking place for the 13 months which are still left to run on the current UK-EU fishing deal, so why is fishing even being discussed today?
- The choice between fishing and defence is not a binary choice – the two have nothing to do with each other so this is a red herring.
- Nana Akua asked our Chairman if Sir Keir was being ‘spineless’ and he agreed, contrasting the PM’s approach with that of Lord David Frost and Boris Johnson in 2021, which we reported on extensively here.
- Our Chairman was able to explain how fishing is handled worldwide under the international law of the seas, UNCLOS, and asked why an international rights lawyer like Sir Keir is not following the international treaty that 169 countries have signed.
- Peter Edwards made several points about fishing, defence, and ‘youth mobility’, all of which were demolished by UKFC’s Chairman. Finally, our Chairman appealed for support from the public, which then came flooding in from the moment the interview concluded.

OBSERVATIONS
It is essential that the cause of fishing is presented in the mainstream media. This interview did just that, the day before Sir Keir Starmer’s ‘EU Reset Summit’ today.
It was particularly encouraging that immediately after this interview we received a large number of emails from the public, backing our fishermen 100%. Shortly we will publish some of these messages (anonymously) below, but firstly we want to publish this to catch ‘the early birds’ who read our site early in the morning.
