And this government has definitely lost it

It’s time for a Stand for Our Sovereignty
A major new campaign launches, backed by seven organisations, politicians, and major public figures
One of the organisations backing it is the UK Fisheries Campaign
Yesterday, the UK Fisheries Campaign was invited to endorse a brand new campaign to defend the sovereignty of the United Kingdom. Given the actions taken against our industry in extending the current arrangements with the EU for a further 12 years after they end next year, we accepted immediately. Below is an article first published by the Brexit Facts4EU organisation. They are acting as ‘the workhorse’ for the ‘umbrella organisation’ for the campaign – the Campaign for an Independent Britain (CIBUK).
Put simply, our nation now stands at a critical crossroads. The sovereignty of the United Kingdom – hard won and deeply cherished – is under threat as never before.
From foreign policy and fishing to energy production and open borders, our sovereign rights have been surrendered on an increasingly regular basis by successive governments.
They seem more concerned about courting international opinion than they are about safeguarding their own people.
We’re British. We will not kneel.
Enough is enough
Under the current government, we believe this process of erosion, dilution, and surrender of our sovereignty has accelerated to a point where the patience of the British public has finally reached breaking point.
Sovereignty is about all of us in this country known as the United Kingdom: who we are, what territory we own, and who makes our laws and governs us. If this is constantly under threat or actively being diminished, then we have no sound base on which to build our great nation. It undermines our feelings of self-worth, our aspirations, and our determination to succeed.
When these continual threats come from our own government, it’s time to take a ‘Stand for Our Sovereignty’. And so that’s precisely what we’re going to do.
The ‘Stand for Our Sovereignty’ – Will you take your stand?
Some years ago we watched as a slow and insidious series of ideas, statements and actions began to become more evident, emanating from governments and their agencies but building on a large network of forces which had long since been establishing themselves. In more recent years and particularly in more recent months, this process has been growing at an accelerated pace.
Some of these relatively recent statements and actions (i.e. within the last 12 months) concern an alleged need for a ‘reset’ of the relationship with the EU, but others do not. What they all have in common, however, is a thread of what can only be described as a dissolution of what our country represents and a desire to subsume its parts into bodies which transcend our national boundaries and our identity.
It seems we are redefining ourselves as a part of some larger whole(s) and that if we defer in this way we are supposed to believe it automatically confers either virtue, or will make us stronger in some way. Other aspects of this involve accepting guilt automatically, whatever the charge. The mindset almost relishes the prospect of being punished.
And all of this in no hope of eventual atonement and forgiveness, nor an end to what we must be charged with and suffer for. Collective masochism writ large on a constitutional and existential scale.
Sovereignty is real and tangible
Putting some flesh on these rather conceptual bones is not difficult. To list some at random: –
- The acceptance that Northern Ireland should be separated from the United Kingdom to which it belongs
- The farmers’ inheritance tax which completely misunderstands the countryside as only metro-trolls can
- The giveaway for no return of our sovereign Exclusive Economic Zone of waters surrounding our island nation
- The gift to a Chinese ally of strategically-significant islands over which that country has no claim
- And the extra gift of billions of pounds for its trouble in accepting them
- The acceptance (coming soon) of our foreign and defence policies being decided by a foreign power
- The extraordinary idea of jettisoning the centuries-old principle of all being equal under the law
- The headlong rush for national impoverishment through extreme Net Zero policies to earn world acclaim
- Allowing foreign border guards to inspect us at a UK airport in Gibraltar before being allowed onto British sovereign territory
- The proposal to follow WHO-dictated rules on lockdowns for future pandemics
- And of course the return of foreign courts over which we have no control nor say, in determining the laws which govern us, in perpetuity
This is not what the majority believe in
There is now a clear groundswell of feeling in the country at large which has been building for some time. Given the powerlessness so many people feel when faced with extreme political ideologies being pursued, a lack of enthusiasm for politicians they thought might be on their side, and a real desire for change, we decided to refer to it as the ‘Stand for Our Sovereignty’.
The ‘Stand for Our Sovereignty’ is built around the idea that enough’s enough and we’re putting a stake in the ground right here, right now.
As former Cabinet Minister the Rt Hon David Jones put it to us once:
“It’s really very simple.
“We want to run our own affairs, thank you very much.”
– The Rt Hon David Jones, commenting to Facts4EU.Org and CIBUK.Org, 2024

We believe the people of this country still agree with that sentiment, so simply but so completely put.
This applies to everything from the deployment of jet fighters to the catching of fish, from decisions on energy production to the wasteful spending in central and local government on politically-inspired lunacy, and from what farmers can grow to the explosive growth in the illegal population.
For the United Kingdom to be able to define itself as a sovereign state it must have a defined territory, administered by its own government and not be subject to or dependent on another power.
STOP PRESS: It seems this campaign has hit a nerve! It has been FLYING since we launched yesterday morning!
We’re really interested in what you think, so let us know. You can write to us here! Unfortunately, what we are not getting are any financial contributions to help us to help the campaign in doing things like press conferences, videos, etc. We need to pay for some extra part-time staff but our coffers are virtually empty. Sorry we have to ask, but…
Sir Keir’s new fishing sell-out has not yet been drafted
There’s time to stop it

Now it’s back to the main campaign messge which went out yesterday.
Given the dangers, seven organisations have swiftly decided to act
The attacks on our sovereignty and democracy are now coming with such speed that seven organisations decided to act fast. Led by the non-partisan Campaign for an Independent Britain as the ‘umbrella organisation’, and powered by the team at Brexit Facts4EU, a total of seven organisations have moved swiftly in the last 48 hours to endorse this new campaign: ‘Stand for Our Sovereignty’. The full list is:
CIBUK, Brexit Facts4EU, The UK Fisheries Campaign, The Global Discussion Forum, The European Foundation, GB-PAC, and Conservative Post & Reformer. We expect more to join over this weekend.
What are your views?
If any of the above resonates with you, what would you like to see done about it? If you feel, as we do, that it’s time to take a ‘Stand for Our Sovereignty’, then let’s start now, together. It begins with that simple decision and a sense of determination. If we all agree on that, the rest is about the how – and we have some ideas about that too.
To be absolutely clear, this is NOT about forming a political party. The ‘Stand for Our Sovereignty’ is about who we are as a nation and fighting back against a set of ideas being promulgated and acted upon which will change our country beyond recognition – more so than it already has been. It is a campaign which anyone can support or not, regardless of party affiliation. It is something any freedom-loving organisation can endorse.
For now, we would simply like to know if the above thoughts about taking a stand for sovereignty resonate with you, and if so, would you be willing to put either your time or your money where your thoughts lie? Please write to us here and tell us what you think.
If we’re right and if it has popular support, then seven organisations will immediately step up to promote this, with more joining as they see how popular it becomes.
Observations
In addition to all the organisations who have come together so promptly to endorse this new campaign, some well-respected figures are also lending their names to ‘Stand for our Sovereignty’.
We are most grateful to Sir Bill Cash, the Rt Hon Sir John Redwood, and the Rt Hon David Jones, and as with the groups we are expecting more to endorse the campaign in the coming days, of all political persuasions and none.
